Juan’s first drawing EVER!!

Juan’s first AutoCad drawing ever!

Our intern, Juan Cabrera Sandoval completed his first AutoCad drawing ever today! Juan is a student at ACE High School here in Rockford. He comes to our production office every other Friday to learn a little about working in the field of Architecture. Rob has been coaching/teaching him AutoCad the drafting program we use, for the last several weeks. The drawing Juan did is a plan view of the Creekside Neighborhood Association’s Pool and Pool House. Juan and Rob measured the facility in the Belles’ neighborhood while the weather was still warm. Rob and Juan each did a hand drawing while talking about the process. Juan was to interpret the hand drawing for computer input at a later date. The process was intended to be double sure that all the necessary information was gathered. As it turned out, Juan did an excellent job on his hand drawing and did not have to refer to Rob’s drawing at all. Today he learned how to send the completed drawing to the plotter, watched it print, and took it back to school to show what he has learned. We are hoping Juan can take a class in AutoCad at Rock Valley College next semester. Taking the class concurrent with working in the field is an awesome way to gain a thorough understanding of your work. Juan is a quick learner and would do very well in an AutoCad class.
